Safety & compliance

Compliant by habit

If you're vetting carriers for your supply chain, this page is for you. Here's how we meet our obligations — and what documentation we can put in front of your procurement team.

Heavy Vehicle National Law & Chain of Responsibility

Sohal Brothers operates under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and takes its Chain of Responsibility obligations seriously — as a carrier, and as a party in your chain. Mass, dimension, load restraint, speed and fatigue are managed on every job, not assumed. We won't accept a task that can't be done legally in the window offered, and we'll tell you why rather than quietly cutting corners.

Fatigue management

All driving work is planned within lawful work and rest hours, with compliant work diaries maintained where required. Changeover legs on the Hume are structured so drivers work realistic shifts — that's the point of a changeover. Night shift work is rostered with proper rest before and after, not bolted onto a day's metro running.

Maintenance standards

Both vehicles are maintained on a scheduled servicing program with daily pre-departure checks. Defects are reported, recorded and rectified before the vehicle works again. Registrations are current on all vehicles, and maintenance records are available for review by contracted customers.

Insurance

We carry full insurance cover appropriate to the work:

  • Public liability
  • Carriers / marine cargo cover for freight in transit
  • Comprehensive insurance on all vehicles

Certificates of currency are available on request — email ops@sohalbrothers.com.au and we'll send them same day.

For procurement teams

On request we can provide: certificates of currency, driver licence verification, vehicle registration details, maintenance records and our safety policies. If your onboarding uses a platform or a pre-qualification questionnaire, send it through — we've filled them in before.
